Shooting birds, I have come to realize, is one of the hardest things to accomplish. That is, without a tripod and patience. However, I do have a tripod and a bit of the latter. On this day though, I did not bring the tripod.

I had discovered the Thomaston Dam and was intrigued by its beauty. I parked my car and walked the length of the dam, stopping only occasionally to take in my surroundings. Birds sang and teased me as they flew by without landing. The tree branches whistled as the wind blew them into song. And the scenery was just amazing in itself.

Just when I thought I had no chance of catching any splendour, I caught this swallow landing and perching himself onto his home. He stayed for a while, as if to say, ok…go for it.
