Some time ago I had driven a many-miles day. It was a wonderful day, actually, for traveling. Bringing my parents and myself upstate, then back down to bring them home, THEN myself back home; which just happened to be only 15 minutes away from the destination we all visited in the beginning of the day.
Arriving back into my own town just as the sun was starting to set, I had the desire to pull over into an old mill area that had burnt down years ago. I walked the premises looking for wonderful sightings to shoot, all while slapping the shit out of my arms to get rid of the pesky mosquitoes that were turning me into their meal for the evening.
Coming to the end of my trek and arriving back at my car at the bottom of the hill, I was entranced by the dark and stillness of the singing bird that became prominent before the dusky sky.
Seeing the shape of his profile while editing and remembering his song, I believe this beautiful fellow is a Blue Jay.
In the still of the night a lonely bird seeks the comfort of a mate….
