You know those really ugly, yet tiny fake chicks that are always sold at the $ store around Easter time? The baby Button Quail is just that size.

When entering the room filled with tanks of reptiles, butterflies, and other interesting insects; the first thing that the eye catches is the elongated tank with the tiny things moving quickly within.

The closer you arrive to their closed-in bodies, you realize that they are actual baby birds. No bigger than half of your thumb, their stature certainly does not impede on their perkiness and speed. Difficult to capture these quick and tiny quail, I was, however, attracted to the one that was sitting still amongst its fellow siblings. High above the others, I wonder if it is the loner or their hierarchy.

  1. she reminds me of the finches we used to raise…so cute and tiny.

  2. At least you got this cute one with it’s eyes open, every time I tried, it would sleep!
